The practical distinction
SimpleClosure (AssetHub) is classified here as wind-down specialist; Sunset is classified as wind-down specialist. These classifications describe the reviewed public program, not a promise about the counterparty or rights in a future agreement. Verify those details in the proposal.
| Field | SimpleClosure (AssetHub) | Sunset |
|---|---|---|
| Business model | Wind-down specialist | Wind-down specialist |
| Records described | Proprietary source code; Repository and testing history; Technical documentation; Workspace communications; Documents and designs; Project tickets and workflows | Internal communications; Product specifications; Code repositories; Engineering workflows; Customer interactions; Decision and iteration history |
| Eligibility | Startups with qualifying SourceCode or WorkspaceData assets, including companies still operating. The official FAQ says a business does not need to shut down to use AssetHub. | Startups winding down that have authentic, usable records of how their teams worked. Sunset evaluates whether the dataset qualifies; no universal size threshold is stated. |
| Payment | The official FAQ describes no upfront cost and a success-based percentage on a completed sale or license. It does not publish a universal fee percentage or payment timetable. | An outright dataset purchase rather than waiting for the owner to find downstream buyers. The official article does not publish a standard payout amount, payment deadline or fee schedule. |

How to use this comparison
Send the same non-confidential scope to each provider if you choose to approach both. Compare guaranteed payment separately from contingent share, and use the same record dates, exclusions and permitted uses. Public program descriptions can change, and unpublished terms cannot be inferred from a competitor.
What this comparison cannot tell you
Neither a public range nor the breadth of a provider’s program establishes the value of your archive. Fit, authority, acceptance and negotiated terms require diligence. A larger advertised number would not by itself justify a broader license.
